18mm marine plywood is a high-quality sheeting that performs well in wet or humid conditions. It’s suitable for general joinery, site hoardings and construction applications, as well as a host of other projects. Marine plywood can be stained or painted with ease thanks to the smooth surface of the wood, providing a professional and aesthetically-pleasing finish. From sheds and garages to outdoor shelters and packaging, marine plywood is a durable material that delivers long-lasting durability. We offer a bespoke cutting service for 18mm marine plywood sheets, so you can order the exact size or shape you require for your project. With fast delivery, you’ll be able to get to work as soon as possible. We also offer 12mm marine plywood, cut to size or shape.

Advantages of 18mm Marine Plywood

Marine plywood sheets are a great wood to work with, with a smooth and knot-free surface that’s ideally suited to staining, painting and lacquering for a professional finish. This variety of plywood provides a high-quality finish at a more affordable price and is durable enough to ensure that whatever application it is used for will stand the test of time. The process of producing marine plywood minimises the risk of water and moisture getting trapped within the layers of the plywood, which reduces the risk of rotting and delamination. This provides a hard-wearing wood that can cope more effectively in humid and wet conditions without losing structural integrity.

18mm marine plywood delivers excellent versatility and is suitable for a wide range of applications and environments, from interior projects such as in bathrooms or areas where moisture is present, to external applications such as sheds and walkways. It’s easy to work with, as it can be bent into shape without cracking, and can be screwed or nailed into place without splintering. The pliability of marine plywood makes it a more adaptable material compared to standard plywood sheeting. The thickness of this particular plywood makes it more sturdy in areas where weather conditions make ordinary woods susceptible to bending or warping, delivering a more secure final product that will remain in place for long periods of time.

Applications of 18mm Marine Plywood

18mm marine plywood is commonly used for shop fitting and roofing, as well as for floors, boarding up shop fronts or windows, and for wall sheathing. The thickness of this plywood also makes it ideal for exhibition stands, racking and for packaging and storage containers, providing security and stability. 18mm marine plywood is well-suited to site hoarding, as it can cope with various weather conditions such as wind and rain without deteriorating, plus it’s thick enough not to crack or split when exposed to high winds.

Your delivery address doesn’t need to be the same as your billing address. You can pick different addresses whilst checking out.

You are also more than welcome to come and pick your acrylic up from us. Our address is Unit 30, Mackley Industrial Estate, Henfield Rod, Small Dole, BN5 9XR.

We will email you confirmation of your order, including your order details, your order number and the price that you have paid.

When your delivery is ready for dispatch, we will email you. This email will include the courier’s tracking number where possible. If you have ordered a larger piece of acrylic, you may not receive any notifications from the courier, and unfortunately our courier also can’t specify a delivery time. If you are out, the courier will leave a card to allow you to arrange a new delivery time to suit you.

Due to factors beyond our control, we can’t guarantee that orders will be delivered when specified during our communications with you.

Your order should arrive packaged and in perfect condition, just as it left us. It will come with a layer of protective film over each surface (mirrored acrylic only has protective film on one side). If your order appears to have been damaged in transit, please refer to our Orders Damaged in Transit information.

FAQs

What tolerance do you cut to?

We cut to a tolerance of +/-3mm.

What is your delivery timescale?

3-7 working days.

Is mirrored acrylic like normal mirror?

Mirrored acrylic is a flexible material, and needs to be attached to a perfectly flat surface. We recommend attaching it to MDF or something similar, making sure the adhesive is spread in a thin even layer across the acrylic. we also recommend using the 5mm thick acrylic as it is more rigid.

Can you cut any shape?

Yes, in acrylic. We will shortly be able to also cut any shape in polycarbonate as well.

What's your standard radius corner?

20mm, but we can cut to your requirements.

How many holes do I need in my acrylic?

1 per corner should be sufficient for smaller pieces. You might want to consider an extra hole in the middle if your sheet is larger.

Can I cut acrylic?

Yes, you can. Just take it slow and easy.

Can I put acrylic behind a hob?

Not if it is gas or electric. You need a gap of 5cm between an induction hob and the acrylic.

Do you fit the acrylic?

No, we don't. We do provide some templates which should help you to take your measurements. The acrylic is easy to install by any competent DIYer.

What's the difference between acrylic and Perspex?

Perspex is a brand name. It is the same as acrylic.

What's the difference between acrylic and polycarbonate?
