12mm marine plywood is a durable wood that can be used for external projects where moisture or damp conditions are present. The process of producing marine plywood results in a minimal gap between the core sheets of the wood which minimises the risk of moisture seeping in and damaging the structure of the sheeting. It’s a great wood for use in humid or wet areas as it can withstand these environments well over long periods of time. 12mm marine plywood can be used for various applications, making it a versatile material to work with. We offer custom cut 12mm marine plywood in any size or shape you require, as well as fast delivery so you can use your products as soon as possible. Our other popular size is 18mm marine plywood, cut to size or shape.
12mm Marine Plywood Grades
Wood comes in a variety of grades; we offer the grades listed below. See our plywood grading guide for more information on the types available.
Marine plywood is for use in environments where the wood is exposed to moisture for extended periods. The type of wood we offer has a high-quality BB/BB face grade and is well-suited to demanding environments such as gardens, bathrooms and parks as well as for roof supports and advertising panels that will be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Advantages of 12mm Marine Plywood
Marine plywood is hardwearing and easy to work with, with a smooth and knot-free surface that makes it ideally suited to painting and staining. One of the main reasons for using marine plywood over standard plywood is for its durability in wet and humid conditions – while standard wood doesn’t cope well in wet conditions, leading to rotting and delamination, marine plywood is designed to withstand these environments much more effectively without losing any structural integrity.
12mm marine plywood is versatile and can be used for a host of different applications and in various industries. It can be cut easily with a handsaw or an electric saw and can also be bent into shape without cracking or splintering. This pliability provides additional options for ways in which this wood can be used, and one of the reasons why it’s so commonly used for applications that differ in shape such as boats and ships. Marine plywood is resistant to cracking and twisting and can also be used with screws and nails without splitting, making it easy to fix into place securely.
Applications of 12mm Marine Plywood
12mm marine plywood can be used to line vehicles or trailers, create storage containers and for cold frames in gardens, as well as for shelving in garages or sheds which are prone to moisture. Because of the process of producing marine plywood, it is reliable in applications where the structural integrity of the wood is of paramount importance, as it won’t rot or become unstable over time. 12mm marine plywood can be used for concrete frameworks and in applications for construction as a durable and strong foundation for different projects. The thickness of this sheeting provides added strength and stability for wall or roof linings and for outdoor structures that can withstand exposure to high winds and harsh weather conditions. For this reason, it’s a great material to use for site hoardings as it won’t become damaged or lose its strength when exposed to water and poor weather conditions but it also thick enough to stay safe and secure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tolerance do you cut to?
We cut to a tolerance of +/-3mm.
What is your delivery timescale?
3-7 working days.
Is mirrored acrylic like normal mirror?
Mirrored acrylic is a flexible material, and needs to be attached to a perfectly flat surface. We recommend attaching it to MDF or something similar, making sure the adhesive is spread in a thin even layer across the acrylic. we also recommend using the 5mm thick acrylic as it is more rigid.
Can you cut any shape?
Yes, in acrylic. We will shortly be able to also cut any shape in polycarbonate as well.
What's your standard radius corner?
20mm, but we can cut to your requirements.
How many holes do I need in my acrylic?
1 per corner should be sufficient for smaller pieces. You might want to consider an extra hole in the middle if your sheet is larger.
Can I cut acrylic?
Yes, you can. Just take it slow and easy.
Can I put acrylic behind a hob?
Not if it is gas or electric. You need a gap of 5cm between an induction hob and the acrylic.
Do you fit the acrylic?
No, we don't. We do provide some templates which should help you to take your measurements. The acrylic is easy to install by any competent DIYer.
What's the difference between acrylic and Perspex?
Perspex is a brand name. It is the same as acrylic.
