3mm birch plywood is a versatile material that can be used for a wide variety of applications in the home and commercial settings. One of the main perks of using birch plywood is the beautiful quality of the wood – it has a pale and smooth finish that doesn’t splinter or crack, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications. Despite being a lighter and thinner variety of plywood, birch plywood actually delivers a surprising amount of strength and durability as well. So much so, it is commonly used for flooring and furniture. Birch is a highly renewable source of wood and great for minimising the environmental impact of using wooden materials – it’s a fast-growing species that doesn’t cause destruction in the forests where it is felled, allowing for a minimal impact compared to other woods. Our biggest sellers are 12mm birch plywood and 18mm birch plywood, cut to size or shape.
3mm Birch Plywood Grade
Birch plywood is available in a variety of grades and we offer the grades listed below. For more information about the types available, please see our plywood grading guide.
The birch plywood that we offer comes in high B/BB grade which provides a clear and smooth surface and is best-suited to applications where the appearance of the wood is important or for printing onto.
Benefits of 3mm Birch Plywood
Birch plywood is a great material to work with as it holds screws really well, compared to softer plywood materials, so whatever it’s being used for will hold securely. This means that joinery such as dovetail joints are not only possible, they also look great and are cleaner thanks to the uniform layers of the plywood. Anything built using birch plywood will last a long time, as this is a secure and stable material that provides excellent levels of strength. Birch has an elegant pale tone to it, so it can be left exposed and natural or it takes stain really well if you want to darken and colour the wood with an oil-based pigment stain. Plywood is also an affordable material that makes the final product more cost-effective.
Applications of 3mm Birch Plywood
The appearance of birch plywood is one of the reasons why it’s so popular for decorative projects or furniture, such as tables or chairs. It makes for beautifully-finished cabinets and storage areas as well. 3mm birch plywood can also be laser cut and engraved with ease, allowing for various designs and finishes to the final product. The thinner sheets of birch plywood are easy to work with and can be cut, routed and assembled easily as they’re light and easy to manoeuvre. Plywood is typically used as construction framework and for flooring in transport vehicles, such as trains, vans and buses. This thickness of material is also a great option for signage as it’s light and easy to cut into a variety of shapes and sizes to suit individual needs.
We provide birch plywood in a wide variety of thicknesses that can be cut to any shape or size to suit your needs. Whatever project you have in mind, get in touch with us to discuss your bespoke requirements and see how we can help.

What tolerance do you cut to?
We cut to a tolerance of +/-3mm.
What is your delivery timescale?
3-7 working days.
Is mirrored acrylic like normal mirror?
Mirrored acrylic is a flexible material, and needs to be attached to a perfectly flat surface. We recommend attaching it to MDF or something similar, making sure the adhesive is spread in a thin even layer across the acrylic. we also recommend using the 5mm thick acrylic as it is more rigid.
Can you cut any shape?
Yes, in acrylic. We will shortly be able to also cut any shape in polycarbonate as well.
What's your standard radius corner?
20mm, but we can cut to your requirements.
How many holes do I need in my acrylic?
1 per corner should be sufficient for smaller pieces. You might want to consider an extra hole in the middle if your sheet is larger.
Can I cut acrylic?
Yes, you can. Just take it slow and easy.
Can I put acrylic behind a hob?
Not if it is gas or electric. You need a gap of 5cm between an induction hob and the acrylic.
Do you fit the acrylic?
No, we don't. We do provide some templates which should help you to take your measurements. The acrylic is easy to install by any competent DIYer.
What's the difference between acrylic and Perspex?
