Moisture-resistant MDF sheets are specially designed to deal with humidity and high moisture levels without deteriorating in quality or strength. This type of MDF contains a moisture-repelling resin which provides excellent resistance to humid conditions, such as for boats, in kitchens and bathrooms, and for washrooms. This premium-grade product is designed for interior applications and is incredibly versatile, with a range of thicknesses available to suit different projects. We offer various sizes of MDF sheets with our most popular in MR being 18mm moisture resistant MDF sheets, cut to size or shape.
Advantages of Moisture-Resistant MDF
Moisture-resistant MDF is an incredibly useful material that offers great benefits. It’s an easy material to fabricate and install using glues, screws and nails. It can also be cut to any size or shape required, providing plenty of opportunity for customisation and creativity for different projects. The smooth surface of MDF makes it an ideal substrate for painting and staining, as well as finishing with varnishes and for use with veneers and laminates.
However, it should be noted that moisture-resistant MDF is not the same as water-resistant wood, so it is still prone to swelling and warping if it comes into direct contact with water.
Moisture-resistant MDF has the added benefit of being an environmentally-friendly product as it makes use of recycled offcuts, wood chippings and sawdust that would typically be thrown away. Different manufacturers include varying levels of recycled materials, but MDF is widely considered to be a green product, like our OSB board. The properties of MR MDF make it a great substrate to use that delivers a high-quality finish with the added benefit of durability over time in all different environments. We also offer fire rated and veneered MDF for applicable purposes.
Applications of Moisture-Resistant MDF
The properties associated with moisture-resistant MDF make it ideal for applications in environments such as kitchens or bathrooms, where humidity and moisture levels are higher. It can be used for utility rooms and laundry rooms, as well as boiler rooms, cubicles and washrooms in commercial settings. Moisture-resistant MDF can also be used in bars and for shop fitting. The moisture-repelling resins in this wood make it a superior product compared to standard MDF for these types of application.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tolerance do you cut to?
We cut to a tolerance of +/-1mm.
What is your delivery timescale?
3-7 working days.
Is mirrored acrylic like normal mirror?
Mirrored acrylic is a flexible material, and needs to be attached to a perfectly flat surface. We recommend attaching it to MDF or something similar, making sure the adhesive is spread in a thin even layer across the acrylic. we also recommend using the 5mm thick acrylic as it is more rigid.
Can you cut any shape?
Yes, in acrylic. We will shortly be able to also cut any shape in polycarbonate as well.
What's your standard radius corner?
20mm, but we can cut to your requirements.
How many holes do I need in my acrylic?
1 per corner should be sufficient for smaller pieces. You might want to consider an extra hole in the middle if your sheet is larger.
Can I cut acrylic?
Yes, you can. Just take it slow and easy.
Can I put acrylic behind a hob?
Not if it is gas or electric. You need a gap of 5cm between an induction hob and the acrylic.
Do you fit the acrylic?
No, we don't. We do provide some templates which should help you to take your measurements. The acrylic is easy to install by any competent DIYer.
What's the difference between acrylic and Perspex?
