We offer several varieties of MDF to choose from which are suitable for a host of different applications and can be cut to any size or shape using our CNC router. This provides a high level of precision and exact repeatability. Whatever shape you’re in need of, we can cut it – all you need to do is send us your drawings in either CAD format or a sketch, and we will create it for you. Our CNC router can be used for rebating, pocketing and hole cutting on MDF sheets, as well as virtually any other sheet material. We also offer laser cutting and CNC engraving services, as well as the option to add mitred edges to your MDF sheeting too.

Using state-of-the-art UV printers, we can print full sheets of MDF in one go, providing a consistent finish with a quicker turnaround rate than painting. While we currently only list 8x4 sheets (2440x1220mm), we’re able to purchase and cut sheets of up to 2000x3000mm, so get in touch with our team today to discuss your requirements. 25mm moisture-resistant MDF, also referred to as MR MDF, is designed for use in humid environments and areas where high moisture levels are common. It’s a versatile material that contains a moisture-repelling resin which provides the useful resistance to humidity. Our thickest sheeting of MR MDF, this material is perfectly suited to applications which require more structure and stability.

25mm Moisture Resistant MDF Uses

There are several different varieties of MDF sheets, depending on the application you’re using it for. Wood comes in a variety of grades we offer the grades listed below. See our wood grading guide for more information on the types available.

  • Moisture-resistant grade MDF can be used in areas of homes or businesses where moisture or humidity is an issue, such as bathrooms, kitchens or storage areas.

Advantages of 25mm Moisture-Resistant MDF

MDF is a popular material for a number of reasons, beginning with the ease of machinability and fabrication. Moisture-resistant MDF is a lightweight material that can be fixed into place with glues, screws or nails with ease. It provides a smooth surface texture that is well-suited to laminates and veneers, as well as stains and varnishes. MR MDF is an affordable option that provides the added benefit of coping well with moisture and humidity, as well as being a greener material that makes use of sawdust and recycled offcuts that would otherwise be discarded. Our popular sizes are 18mm MDF and 12mm MDF sheets.

Applications of 25mm Moisture Resistant MDF

25mm moisture-resistant MDF can be used in many different projects and applications, providing the benefits of moisture-resistance as well as the stability of thicker MDF sheeting. It’s a popular material for kitchen and bathrooms, as well as shop fitting and bars. 25mm MDF is also great for applications such as wardrobes, internal joinery and bookcases or shelving. Although moisture-resistant MDF can cope well with humidity, it is not the same as water-resistant wood, so it is still prone to swelling and warping if it comes into contact with water. For this reason, it’s not suitable for outdoor applications. We also offer fire retardant MDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is moisture-resistant MDF?

With a slight green tint, moisture-resistant MDF, also known as MR MDF, contains a moisture-repellent resin that provides increased resistance to humidity. As a result of this, our MR MDF is ideal for use in high humidity areas or areas of high moisture.

Is all MDF moisture resistant?

Not all MDF is moisture-resistant. MDF is a porous material, and moisture-resistant sheets prevent the MDF sheets from warping or being affected by moisture.

Is all moisture-resistant MDF green?

Typically with a green tint, moisture resistant MDF is well-suited for use in environments that are prone to humidity and high moisture levels, such as bathrooms, kitchens or utility rooms.

Can you paint moisture-resistant MDF?

Often chosen for its inexpensive cost to create furniture, MDF can be painted to add some character or personality to any piece. We have written a guide to assist you in painting your MDF.

How do you waterproof MDF panels?

Moisture-resistant MDF sheets are already resistant to moist areas and humidity, however, you can improve its hydrophobia by coating it in an appropriate waterproof primer or paint.

What is waterproof MDF called?

Moisture-resistant MDF, also known as MR MDF, contains a moisture-repellent resin that provides increased resistance to humidity. As a result of this, our MR MDF is ideal for use in high humidity areas or areas of high moisture.

Do you need to prime moisture-resistant MDF?

Moisture-resistant MDF is easier to paint than other MDF types, however, we still recommend using a primer to ensure an even flat paint coverage. We are equipped with providing your sheets primed for you saving you time and effort.

Should I nail or screw MDF?

To screw into MDF you will require specific screws to prevent splitting. We recommend using screws that are purposely made for MDF as generic screws may damage the sheeting.

What happens if MDF gets wet?

MDF is prone to warping and bending when moisture is concerned. That could be as a result of liquid affecting the sheet, or even from an uneven temperature causing bowing and warping.

Does MDF absorb moisture?

MDF is a porous material that takes on water like a sponge, so our moisture-resistant MDF is built to withstand humid and moist conditions allowing continuous use in those wetter environments like bathrooms or utility cupboards.
