What’s the difference between budget and premium acrylic splashbacks?
What we have called a budget splashback is in fact world class quality coloured acrylic, often called Perspex or Plexiglass. This acrylic is a solid colour right the way through and is a very cost effective high quality solution. The only slight drawback is that there is a limited range of colours available which may not suit your design.
This brings us nicely to our premium range of splashbacks. These are made from clear acrylic with the colour printed to the back using the latest uv printing technology. This allows us to create almost any color imaginable using CMYK colour mixing. The main difference in the finished product is that with our premium acrylic splashback you see through the clear to the colour, which is why you will sometimes hear them being described as glass look.
Both products create stunning results in the kitchen, bathroom or throughout the home so for me the only choice is the colour.
We recommend ordering a sample to check the colour in the final location as screens can display colours differently. If you can’t find the correct colour or are trying to match a specific paint, RAL or Pantone colour get in touch and we can create a custom sample for you.

Are acrylic splashbacks heat resistant?
Acrylic splashback panels melt at high temperatures or from exposure to direct flames. The melting point for most Perspex plastics is 160 degrees Celcius, so they cannot withstand extreme temperatures. We recommend using our Glass Splashbacks which will withstand any heat.
Can I put acrylic splashbacks behind a hob?
Not if it is gas or electric. You will need a gap of 50mm between an induction hob and the acrylic.
How do you fit an acrylic splashback?
While we suggest you hire a professional to fit any of our splashbacks, it is possible to fit our splashbacks yourself. To do so, you will require an adhesive, and finish with a neutral cure silicone to seal along where your splashback meets any surface.
What is the difference between glass and acrylic splashbacks?
Our glass splashbacks give a clearer light transmission allowing you to see the colour on the glass. They are traditional for splashbacks as they are able to withstand higher temperatures, though aren’t as shatter-resistant as acrylic splashbacks.
How do you clean an acrylic splashback?
Keeping your acrylic splashback panels clean and hygienic is easy to maintain, as all that is required is warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth.
Can you cut a custom hole for plug sockets?
We are able to accommodate any requirements you may need. You can customise your splashback when ordering. For plug sockets, select the Cut-Outs option and explain where your plug socket is. For more assistance contact us at info@cutmyplastic.co.uk.
