Cut My Plastic produces a number of different clear acrylic sheets (also known as Perspex®) that are perfect for replacement shed windows.
Glass shed windows are always getting broken. Whether it’s kids playing football or you have an accident when fetching something from a shady corner, the chances are that if you’ve had a shed for any length of time, you’ve had to replace a pane or two. Instead of using glass, it’s much cheaper, safer and practical to use plastic for your replacement shed or greenhouse windows.
Our acrylic replacement acrylic (Perspex® alternative) shed windows are not only lighter and cheaper than real glass, they are anything up to 17 times more resistant to impact and, if they do break, they simply crack instead of shattering into dangerous shards.
People are spending much more time in their sheds, using them not only as a place to keep tools but as extra rooms, home offices and leisure spaces. Because they are fast becoming such important additions to the home, styles and designs are developing to reflect this; you can find sheds that have half and fully glazed walls and glass roofs in order to maximise the amount of natural light that your shed gets. Glazing these with real glass is a very expensive solution, especially if the windows get broken or cracked.
Using weather and UV proof acrylic shed windows instead and you’ll find that they are cheaper, easier to install, easy to clean and maintain. Because they are so tough, plastic shed windows also prevent accidents and offer far better security than traditional glass windows. Wherever you have children or pets, you’re bound to have accidents too, so it’s worth considering replacement acrylic shed windows as an alternative to real glass. As well as being safe, lightweight and exceptionally hard to break, replacement windows for sheds can be cut from sheets of plastic of any colour.
Because of plastic’s thermal insulation properties, using plastic for your shed windows helps to keep the space warm if you’re using it as an additional room or home office. Because they are both lightweight and flexible, fitting new plastic shed windows is both simple and safe. All you need do is order the size you require and we will deliver the plastic windows to your home, all well packaged and protected to arrive with you in perfect condition. They can then be unwrapped, and simply placed in the shed’s window frames. Once they are in, remove the protective film and the job is done.
Frequently Asked Questions
What tolerance do you cut to?
We cut to a tolerance of +/-1mm.
What is your delivery timescale?
3-7 working days.
Is mirrored acrylic like normal mirror?
Mirrored acrylic is a flexible material, and needs to be attached to a perfectly flat surface. We recommend attaching it to MDF or something similar, making sure the adhesive is spread in a thin even layer across the acrylic. we also recommend using the 5mm thick acrylic as it is more rigid.
Can you cut any shape?
Yes, in acrylic. We will shortly be able to also cut any shape in polycarbonate as well.
What's your standard radius corner?
20mm, but we can cut to your requirements.
How many holes do I need in my acrylic?
1 per corner should be sufficient for smaller pieces. You might want to consider an extra hole in the middle if your sheet is larger.
Can I cut acrylic?
Yes, you can. Just take it slow and easy.
Can I put acrylic behind a hob?
Not if it is gas or electric. You need a gap of 5cm between an induction hob and the acrylic.
Do you fit the acrylic?
No, we don't. We do provide some templates which should help you to take your measurements. The acrylic is easy to install by any competent DIYer.
What's the difference between acrylic and Perspex?
